Schmidt: Seekabel und Sabotage. Carla Cerdes posthumanistische Infrastrukturpoetik

Abstract: This article explores the critical posthumanist infrastructural poetics of the German-language poet Carla Cerda. Cerda’s series of poems »Loop2« (2020)and its main subject, the submarine cable MAREA, are examined to show that in contemporary poetry, counter-narratives to this part of critical digital infrastructures are circulating. The poems do not only focus on the situatedness and materiality of the cable itself, but they also stage more-than-human beings and cyborgs as both collaborators of big technology companies and resistant entities. This decenters the human point of view, while at the same time calling for the readers’ responsibility for infrastructural, socio-economic and ecological concerns.
